Officer Aeryn Sun
Vital Statistics
Race: Sebacean
Rank: Special Peacekeeper Commando (former)
Assignment: Ikarian Company, Pleisar Regiment, under Captain Bialar Crais.
Family: Talyn Lyczak (father, deceased), Xhalax Sun (mother, deceased)
History: Aeryn was born of a scientist father and military mother.
She was inducted immediately into the Peacekeepers and grew up within their environment.
She began flying Scrub Runners aged 14 cycles, then progressed to KL-80s and -81s.
She entered Prowler Attack School at sixteen, rather later than usual due to having a
later growth spurt than is common for Sebaceans.
She progressed through the military, taking various assignments.
At around 3 BE she was assigned to convey Lt Velorek on a mission.
En route, she entered into a casual relationship with him, as is not uncommon
under such circumstances, but began to feel differently about him.
He encouraged her to explore her individuality, but she shied away,
being unable to deal with her feelings for him.
Eventually, when she discovered that he was engaged in treasonous
activities, she turned him in, a decision that caused her some discomfort.
At the time of the prisoner breakout on Moya, Aeryn was assigned
as a Prowler pilot on Captain Crais' command carrier and was awaiting approval
of a transfer request into flying Marauder-class ships. She was involved in the
assault on the Leviathan. When Moya starbursted away, Aeryn was too close,
and her Prowler was pulled through, allowing her to be captured.
She escaped, with the assistance of John Crichton, and contacted Crais.
He came to find her, but was more interested in Crichton, who he believed had
killed his brother. Aeryn spoke up in defense of Crichton, which angered Crais,
who pronounced her to be irreversibly contaminated. Sent away for execution,
she unwillingly went along with Crichton's breakout, and proved essential to their
eventual escape, piloting Moya manually with great precision.
Since that time Aeryn has remained on Moya, largely because she simply
has nowhere else to go. She initially had to wrestle with her training as she was
forced to deal with things that were either completely outside her experience or worse,
made it necessary for her to act in an almost traitorous fashion. She often felt guilt
about her actions, particularly when it was revealed that her entire unit was now
considered disgraced, a condition that could only be lifted by her death. There's no
indication whether this referred to the Ikarian company, the entire Pleisar regiment,
or some other unit level.
Aeryn has, however, grown to prefer her current situation, and now appear
to see her former life as an empty one. She has grown to value most of her shipmates,
with a particular fondness for Pilot, whose DNA she now shares after their encounter with
the scientist Namtar. Her relationship with John has been decidedly rocky, as she opened
up only to pull back, unsure of her feelings once again. Finally, after the best part of two
cycles, she has finally opened up and admitted her love for him.
The timing, unfortunately, was not the best. John, under the control of the
neurochip implanted by Scorpius, took his Farscape 1 module away from Moya,
and Aeryn was forced to pursue in her Prowler. After a chase over icy terrain,
where John's greater experience in atmospheric flying allowed him to get the
better of her, Aeryn's Prowler was badly damaged. Aeryn was forced to eject,
then realized that she was over a frozen lake. A malfunction in her restraint harness
meant that she was unable to get clear of her ejector seat, which smashed through
the ice. With nothing available to cut herself loose with, Aeryn drowned.
Dead, and placed in a cryotube after a funeral presided over by Zhaan,
Aeryn was brought back to life when the Delvian realized that there might still be
a chance. Aided by the energies of the Banik Stykera, Stark, Zhaan was able
to pull Aeryn back from the brink, although she sacrificed much of her own life
energy in doing so, a choice that Aeryn felt was a poor one. Aeryn was distraught
at Zhaan's subsequent demise, and it remains to be seen how much she might
blame herself for Zhaan's death.
Aeryn also pulled back from her relationship with John, being of the opinion
that her strong feelings for him posed a danger to the crew. Although she initially
suggested that the two of them could still have sex, as a way of releasing tension
and 'body fluids', the pair elected to let things take their natural course, and an
affectionate affair began to grow.
After a "twinning" occurred on another prison ship
the crew was left with two exactly matched John Crichtons. Testing to the genetic level
revealed them both to be the same person, each with a the same traits, knowledge and love.
The crew split for a short time leaving Aeryn, Rygel, Stark Crais and one of the Crichtons on an injured Talyn
while the remaining John stayed with Chiana, Pilot, D'Argo and Jool aboard Moya.
In their time together on Talyn, Aeryn and Crichton became
closer then ever. Their relationship deepened becoming playful and loving. Time and again they proved their
was nothing they could not overcome as long as they were together. Aeryn began to change, softening her tuff
as nails personality into a more caring person. That was when fate struck a devastating blow, in order to stop
Scarrens from getting the wormhole technology now 'leaking' from John's head, he sacrificed himself.
Crichton took a lethal dose of radiation and died in Aeryns arms.
Shortly after his death Talyn and Moya again crossed paths, the crews
reunited. The John who had remained on Moya was overjoyed to see Aeryn again, while she hardly gave him a
second glance, feeling as though he was the clone of the man she loved. Her grief lasted for some time before
she was able to accept this Crichton as the man she loved, and even then she was only with him briefly before
leaving under very mysterious conditions. Aeryn's time spent away from the Moya was not discussed upon her return,
however it was under circumstances just as mysterious as her departure.
Areyn returned with none other than Scorpius, telling how she owed her life
to him. It seemed obvious that there was so much more going on, when John finally confronted her. He knew, having
been told by Noranti that Aeryn was pregnant. She seemed shocked that he knew, and could only explain that
she had to be sure before she said anything. With her Sebacean physiology the fetus could be held in stasis
for up to 7 cycles before beginning to mature. It remains to be seen who the father is, or what direction the
relationship will take, but now it is Aeryn who is striving to win back the trust and love of Crichton.
